Privacy policy: what RimShow collects

RimShow is built to need as little about you as possible. You don't create an account, and we never ask for your name, email or license plate to use the site. This page explains exactly what does pass through our systems.

Effective October 10, 2026

Photos you upload

When you snap or upload a photo of your car, your browser first shrinks it, then sends it to our server, which passes it to our AI provider, Anthropic, to identify the vehicle and find its wheels. We do not store the photo. It is used for that one analysis and then discarded by our systems.

Anthropic processes the photo under its commercial API terms, which do not allow it to use the data to train its models. The wheel you then see on your car is drawn in your browser.

Your vehicle

When you confirm your vehicle, we save its year, make and model (for example, 2019 Toyota Tacoma) so the next person with the same vehicle gets a faster answer. This record describes a vehicle, not a person: it is not linked to you, your device or your photo.

Clicks to retailers

When you follow a link to a retailer such as Tire Rack, we record which product and page the click came from, the browser type, and a one-way hashed version of your IP address, so we can count clicks and match them to commissions. The hash cannot be turned back into your IP address.

The retailer and its affiliate network may set their own cookies once you are on their site. Their privacy policies apply there.

Cookies and analytics

The RimShow site does not use advertising or tracking cookies today. If we add analytics, we will update this page first and say what it collects.

When you pick your vehicle, your browser remembers it in its own local storage so the next page opens on it. It stays on your device and is not sent to us; choosing "Change vehicle" or clearing your browser data removes it.

Abuse protection

To keep the photo and vehicle services from being abused, we count requests per IP address for a few minutes at a time. These counters live in memory and are not stored.

Service providers

Vercel hosts the site. Supabase hosts our database (vehicle records and click logs). Anthropic analyzes uploaded photos. Vehicle facts and recalls come from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a public source. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Your choices and rights

You can use every part of RimShow without uploading a photo: pick your vehicle from the lists instead. Depending on where you live, including California, you may have the right to know what we hold about you and to ask us to delete it. Since we keep almost nothing that identifies you, most requests are simple; write to us and we will answer.

Children

RimShow is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Questions about privacy: hello@rimshow.com.
